Q. |
I have a question about my royalty check. Whom do I contact? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A. | You may submit your inquiry to the Owner Relations Department (Contact Us). |
| Q. | Can I have my monthly royalty check Direct Deposited into my bank account? |
| A. | No. At this time, Valence Operating Company does not offer Direct Deposit service to its owners. Royalty checks can be mailed directly to a bank; however, the owner must provide us with the bank name, address, account number and the name of a bank representative who will be handling their account. ||||
| Q. | Can I pull up my account information on line to view the current balance or the amount of my monthly royalty check? |
| A. | No. Our revenue system is not currently set up to allow owners access to their individual accounts. |
| Q. | Why are royalty payments suspended? |
| A. | For your protection, payments are suspended upon a title dispute, the assignment of interest, notice of death, transfer of property, or in the event of a bad or unknown address. Keeping your information current can prevent this inconvenience. |
| Q. | When can I expect to receive my royalty check each month? |
| A. | Royalty checks are printed on the 25th day of each month, unless it falls on a weekend or a holiday, in which case, they are printed on the next working day of the month. Once the checks have been printed, it takes another 2-3 days to stuff all of the envelopes and meter them for postage before placing them in the mail. After mailing, it may take an additional 2-3 days for delivery depending upon the postal service in your area. |
| Q. | I have still not received my monthly royalty check. When should I contact Valence to report the check lost in the mail or stolen? |
| A. | Should you fail to receive a check during a given month, you then need to wait until the 10th day of the following month before reporting the missing check to our office. No funds will be reissued to an owner until such time as Valence has received its statement from the bank, which will enable us to ascertain if the check has either been lost in the mail or endorsed and presented for payment. Once we are able to confirm that the check has been lost, the funds will be reissued to the owner during the next monthly checkwrite, along with any current funds. If, on the other hand, it is determined that the check has been cashed and/or presented for payment by a party other than the owner, then the bank or other financial institution that cashed the check without benefit of proper legal identification, will be held responsible for reimbursing the actual owner for any funds paid in error. |
| Q. | I recently found an old check that I apparently forgot to cash. Can the funds be reissued? |
| A. | Yes. If possible, we would appreciate the return of the old check so that is can be voided. Once the check has been voided, the funds will be placed back in your account and will be reissued for payment during the next monthly check printing, along with any current monthly revenue. Please note that a replacement check will not be issued for the funds. |
| Q. | It is my understanding that your revenue system is set up with a $100 minimum payment limit. My checks have been very small lately and it now takes several months before a check is issued. Can I drop the payment limit so I receive a check more frequently? |
| A. | Yes, we can drop the minimum payment amount set on your account to $50 or less, so that a check will be issued whenever the balance of your account reaches or exceeds the payment limit. In order to initiate a change, we ask that you submit the request in writing or you may contact the Owner Relations Department (Contact Us) and we will adjust our records accordingly. |
| Q. | Why does my monthly payment sometimes vary? |
| A. | Many factors contribute to your payment, including: market conditions, fluctuating commodity prices, regulatory or contractual changes, production volumes, seasonal conditions and well downtime. |
| Q. | Why does my payment differ from others in my family? |
| A. | This sometimes occurs because ownership between family members is not equal, because the individuals sign and return their division orders at different times or because some family members may own interest in other properties in addition to those commonly owned. Probably the most common reason for a difference in payment results from a lost or stale dated check being voided and the funds reissued, along with any current revenue. |
